POSCO LED expects more exposure to customers.
POSCO LED will get its products on the shelves of Homeplus, the nation’s leading retailer with a nationwide branch network, in October after a three week promotional sale at 20 selected braches including the Yeongdeungpo branch from September 13, 2012.
Those products that go on sale include a 9W LED lamp and a 4W halogen lamp. The LED lamp, in particular, uses the same socket as a 60W incandescent bulb or a 15W three wave lamp, offering easy replacement.
Also, it will be available at an up to 50% cheaper price than its competitors that already exist in the market. An LED lamp helps to save up to 90% of energy cost and reduce carbon emissions.
Compared with the existing LED lamps, which use complex circuit components, such as an AC/DC converter, enabling DC-powered LED lamps to work in the AC power environment at home and office, POSCO LED’s product has a simple chip implementing the same functionality, raising the level of energy efficiency, trustworthiness, reliability and price competitiveness.
“With its commitment to trustworthiness and technology, our parent company, POSCO, has emerged as one of the most competitive companies in the steel manufacturing sector. Inspired by its success, POSCO LED is also committed to the best quality LED lighting,” said Nam-suk Hur, CEO of POSCO LED. “Despite many benefits, LED lights have not been widely adopted as consumers feel the pressure of their higher prices. POSCO LED’s products will be an economical and healthy choice at a reasonable price as they help energy cost saving and eye damage prevention. As they go on sale at Homeplus, we expect that the both companies can make a win-win result and that LED lights get more exposure to customers.”
